Madrid Bear Statue

This addition to my collection also came from a colleague who traveled to Spain and found this bear statue in Madrid. "The Bear and the Madroño Tree" ("El Oso y el Madroño") is in the Puerta del Sol area of the city. A symbol of Madrid, the real statue weighs almost 20 tons and is sometimes translated as the Bear and the Strawberry Tree. However, The Madroño tree produces red berries red similar to strawberries, but are not good to eat raw, but make a good jam. This bear and tree image is emblazoned on taxis, buses, pavements, trash cans and almost everything belonging to the city government.
