The Lexington Cake

Building Collector reader Paul C. saw my post about architectural cakes and sent me this great photo he has of a large cake in the shape of The Lexington. It appears that the cake’s chef is being congratulated by perhaps the hotel manager. The New York City hotel is now part of the Radisson chain (Radisson Lexington Hotel) and is located in the heart of Manhattan's prestigious East Side. Built in 1928 by architects Schultz and Waver, the building has 700 rooms. By the looks of this cake, it could feed each guest in those many rooms.

The Cable TV show ACE OF CAKES is doing a BIG cake of the MACY's HERALD SQUARE flagship store in NYC as part of the show. I had the luck of seeing the cake in person at a filming...hopefully it will not wind up on the cutting room floor! The cake is BIG BIG BIG like everyhing in NYC!
