Buffalo, NY’s Central Terminal Train Station

A group is currently leading an effort to restore a train station in Buffalo, New York called the Central Terminal train station. They conduct exterior and interior tours about the architecture and history of the grand structure. Due to years of abandonment, the building’s interior is not in good condition, but the massive waiting room is a sight to see with it’s towering ceiling, windows and original clock. The 17-story Art Deco style station was designed by architects Fellheimer & Wagner for the New York Central Railroad. The non-profit preservation group Central Terminal Restoration Corporation now owns the building and is slowly attending to its poor condition. A miniature replica of Buffalo’s Central Terminal was produced recently in resin. InFocusTech also makes a version in metal. (I recently visited Buffalo, N.Y. and toured some of the rich architectural heritage of that city. This post is part of a series about miniature architecture of Buffalo. The other posts can be found here.)
